Paired with perfectly cooked thin fries, it promises a satisfying indulgence that’s hard to match. But that’s not all; the fish and chips platter has garnered praise for its delightful crispy texture, proving that The Harding Tavern’s offerings are both fresh and fair in portion size, making it a versatile dining choice.
Beyond burgers, The Harding Tavern boasts an impressive selection of craft beers. As Kyle Weidie noted, the atmosphere allows you to enjoy the moment without needing to overanalyze. Whether you’re a beer aficionado or just curious, the bartenders are there to guide you to the perfect pour. Plus, if you venture in for a casual dinner, you can expect friendly staff who are eager to recommend drinks that pair beautifully with your meal.

“ The Harding Tavern knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else. It’s a true neighborhood spot with quiet confidence—no gimmicks, no attitude, just the kind of place you settle into without needing to talk about it. The layout is long and lean, with a good-sized bar running parallel to the sidewalk. It doesn’t go deep, but it doesn’t need to. The space breathes just fine. The beer list is compact but sharp, with multiple IPAs and local picks that actually feel selected. I ordered the JR THT, their 4 oz version of the house-ground garlic beef burger, and it totally delivered—garlicky, juicy, and built like it cared. I briefly regretted not going for the full 6 oz, but that’s on me. Bonus points for offering both sizes so you can meet your moment. And yes, I went for the Bartender’s Handshake—a beer (High Life was my choice) and a shot of Fernet-Branca for $10, proudly advertised next to an old tymey cash register behind the bar. It came out fast, it hit just right, and it was the perfect nod to a bar that’s clearly been doing this longer than most. The Harding Tavern doesn’t chase trends. It just does its thing—and that thing is a damn good burger, a proper drink, and a barstool that makes sense in a long day. ”
“ I've driven 3 to 4 hours round trip for one thing...THE T.H.T. BURGER. BEST BURGER IVE EVER EATEN AND THE THIN FRIES ARE COOKED TO PERFECTION!!!!! GREAT selection of craft beers and even if you're clueless the bartenders will not steer you wrong. Guarantee you will NOT be disappointed! ”
“ Came in for a fish and chips platter. Was not disappointed. Portion sizes were fair, and the fish itself had a nice crispy texture. Fish and chips are a pricier option compared to their other menu offerings, however. Good access to the Logan Square Blue Line station is a plus. ”
“ Came in for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised! We got two different burgers and they were both very good. The server was also able to reccomend us a beer that we both really enjoyed! ”
“ I enjoyed the Mac and cheese...the fries looked delicious, but my lady friend wasn't super fond of them. Patrons were fun. "Social media" team were a bit much but probably won't be there when you are. The guy clearing tables might be and he was pretty intense but hopefully harmless. The bartender/waiter made the process of ordering and paying a bit of a slow burn for my taste but nothing egregious. ”
